How to Get from Istanbul Airport to the Galata Tower

The Galata Tower is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Istanbul, and the surrounding neighborhood is incredibly popular for boutique hotels and Airbnb rentals. It is famous for its Genoese architecture, cobblestone streets, and vibrant cafe culture.

Transportation Options

• Public Transport: You can take the Havaist bus to Taksim Square, then walk down Istiklal Avenue with your luggage, and finally take the historic Tünel funicular down to Galata. This takes nearly 2.5 hours and is physically exhausting.
• Standard Taxis: Most yellow taxi drivers flat-out refuse to drive into the narrow streets around the Galata Tower. They will drop you at the bottom of the hill in Karaköy or the top in Şişhane, forcing you to drag your bags up or down the steep cobblestones.
